How to Play Live Dealer Sic Bo

A fascinating game of chance played with three dice, Sic Bo (pronounced “See-Bo”), also known as hi-lo, has been played in China since ancient times. The Chinese words “Sic Bo” are loosely translated to mean “jewel dice” or “precious dice”. Wildly popular in Asia, Sic Bo was brought to the United states by Chinese immigrants at the beginning of the twentieth century. Currently found in most American casinos, Sic Bo as a casino game is rapidly gaining in popularity in the rest of the world.

In live Sic Bo, the object of the game is to correctly bet on certain outcomes for each roll of the dice. If the outcome you bet on comes up, then you win your bet, but if not, you lose. You can make multiple bets simultaneously, and there are several betting options with differing payouts, ranging from even money up to 150 to 1.

The three dice are tossed by means of an electronic shaker consisting of a clear glass globe with a mechanical floor that tosses the dice. Results are shown clearly, so you can easily see the outcomes and there is no way the dice can be interfered with. The video feed is in a window within the game interface, where you can see your betting history, the game layout, and the payouts for various bets.

Options for placing bets in live Sic Bo are based on the differing combinations that can be formed by the three dice. Bets and payouts are displayed on the game table. You can wager on as many outcomes as you wish during each game. The dealer will activate the mechanical dice shaker after all bets have been made or when the countdown timer has run out during online live Sic Bo games. The results of the three dice will be displayed on your screen and the winning outcomes will light up on the table.

Wagers and Payouts for Live Sic Bo

There are eight different wagers that you can make:

  1. Three of a Kind – You can select a single number to appear on all three dice. Of course, this is the least likely combination to appear, so the payout is highest, 150 to 1.
  2. Two of a Kind – You can wager that one number will appear on two out of three dice. The payout for this wager is 8 to 1.
  3. Any Three of a Kind – In this wager, you bet that any number at all (1-6) will appear on all three dice. The payout is 24 to 1.
  4. Small – You can bet that the total sum of the dice will be either 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 but this wager excludes the Three of a Kind. So three 1s, three 2s and three 3s would not be winning outcomes on a Small bet. The payout for a Small bet is even money.
  5. Big – Likewise, you can bet that the total sum of the dice will be 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, or 17. Again, this excludes the Three of a Kind, so three 4s, three 5s and three 6s would not be winning bets with a Big wager.
  6. Sum – On the live Sic Bo display, you will see a large area displaying the numbers 4 through 17. These numbers represent wagers on the total sum of the three dice, and you would select a single number to bet on. They payouts differ for each sum:
    • Total sum of 4, payout is 50 to 1
    • Total sum of 5, payout is 30 to 1
    • Total sum of 6, payout is 18 to 1
    • Total sum of 7, payout is 12 to 1
    • Total sum of 8, payout is 8 to 1
    • Total sum of 9, payout is 6 to 1
    • Total sum of 10, payout is 6 to 1
    • Total sum of 11, payout is 6 to 1
    • Total sum of 12, payout is 6 to 1
    • Total sum of 13, payout is 8 to 1
    • Total sum of 14, payout is 12 to 1
    • Total sum of 15, payout is 18 to 1
    • Total sum of 16, payout is 30 to 1
    • Total sum of 17, payout is 50 to 1
  7. Duo – In this wager, you bet that two different numbers will come up on two of the three dice. You can bet on any combination of numbers,a s long as they are different, and the payout is 5 to 1.
  8. One of a Kind – Here, you bet that a number of your choosing will appear on one or more of the dice. There are differing payouts depending on how many dice the number you select appears on. If it appears on one dice, the payout is even money. If it appears on two, the payout is 2 to 1, and if it appears on all three dice then the payout is 3 to 1.
